Manohar lays foundation stone of Veterinary Hospital

KATHUA, June 15: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance & Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma laid foundation stone of Veterinary Hospital at Parnala in tehsil Billawar today. The hospital will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 13.40 lakh, work of which will be executed by Rural Development Department.
On the occasion, Dr Sharma said that Government has devised programmes and schemes to promote animal husbandry in the rural habitations which has remained an important source of income in the rural economy. He said present Government in the State has worked very hard to extend medical facilities for the live stocks in the villages which are rich in cattle population. He said with the opening of Veterinary Hospital the facilities like artificial insemination, vaccination, medicines, antiseptic and other dosing will be available to the people of  the vicinity who otherwise  had to traverse long  to get medical aid for their farm animals.
Dr Sharma appealed the people to go for mix farming, adding that instead of growing single crop, farmers can try & diversify agricultural activities like dairy farming, poultry and fish farming. He also appealed the youth to avail Government schemes and establish units of dairy, poultry etc to  become self sufficient.
The Minister also gave patient hearing to the problems projected by the locals.
Early funding of Rs 1.64 crore  for Parnala Water Supply Scheme and Panchayat Ghar Parnala were the key issues projected by the local representatives.
The Minister while responding to the demands of the people said their demands will be addressed on priority. He also passed on spot instructions to the PDD and PHE Department to redress the problems of low voltage in the area and regular drinking water supply through tankers.
Among others Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kathua, Tehsildar Billawar, BDO Billawar, AEE ( REW), Dy CEO, Forest Range Officer and large number of people were present on the occasion.
