KATHUA, June 18: Former minister and president of District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has strongly projected the burning issues of the people from Billawar area.
The DCC president who conducted extensive 2-day tour of Billawar Assembly has alleged that Lt Governor’s administration has failed to provide basic amenities to the public, especially in Billawar and Bani constituency.
The former MLA visited several villages including Aglidhar, Nallan Sialna, Dhed, Kandarnu and Malti, where people apprised him of various problems being faced by them. Sharma said that acute shortage of drinking water and inscheduled power cuts are the major issues projected by the public.
DCC president said that majority of water pumps are damaged and no repair work has been initiated by the concerned agency. He said admisntration should make sure that people get uninterrupted water and power supply during these harsh summer days.
While talking about bad conditions of roads, Dr Sharma said Sialna- Aglidhar, Dramni-Arnote, Chinji -Makwal, Fintar-Bhaddu, Billawar- Katli (1st portion) of roads are in worst condition. No repair work has been conducted by PWD on these roads since long. People are facing lot of hardships due to broken and unrepaired roads.
The people also complained about their names getting struck from the BPL ration lists and also non- availability of free ration to them.
Sharma assured people that he will talk to the concerned departments for early redressal of their burning issues.
While talking on the issue of killing of Sarpanch Ajay Bharti, Sharma said had Ajay Bharti given security, this incident would not happened. He said Ajay has been demanding security cover since long but admisntration didn’t pay heed to his genuine demand.
He demanded that Government should provide security cover to all the Sarpanches in critical areas as they are also elected public representatives and risking their lives for public cause.
