KATHUA, Aug 8: Minister of State for Cooperatives Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today reviewed the preparation and arrangements made by the district administration to tackle the situation of floods, besides the protection measures it has taken to avoid flooding in the venerable spots, at an officers’ meeting here today.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma directed the Flood Control, Rural Development and Irrigation departments to work in close coordination and go for immediate temporary restoration of minor damages and breaches.
He also directed them to formulate projects for major damages and submit the same for funding.
He passed instructions to the AD CAPD to ensure regular and adequate supply of ration throughout the district and address the complaint put forth by people of village Kishanpur, Baggan and Najote of district Kathua. He also directed CMO Kathua to ensure adequate stocks of medicine and medical staff especially in far off and remote areas of the district.
Dr Sharma directed CEO Kathua to identify unsafe school buildings and make arrangements for class work of such schools so that students do not suffer. He also passed instructions for weed out work in the school premises wherever necessary.
He passed instructions to XEn PHE and PWD to identify flood affected roads & water supply schemes falling under bad pocket areas so that restoration can be made on priority. He also directed XEn PDD to expedite the power restoration in areas affected by floods and heavy rains.
SDM Billawar was directed to forward the compensation case of a woman who died in house collapse during heavy rains at village Seri Mooni.
Dr Sharma passed instructions to ACD Kathua to make arrangements for crates at panchayat levels to meet any exigencies during rainy season. He also directed DDC Kathua to identify cases of flood affected people so that timely relief can be given to them.
Among others DDC Kathua Zahida Parveen Khan, ADDC Kathua, Ajay Singh Jamwal, ADC Kathua S.V Meena, AC (D) Pawan Parihar, AC(R) Kathua, Puneet Sharma, SDM Billawar CPO Kathua XEn’s of Flood Control, Irrigation, PHE, PDD, PWD, CMO were also present on the occasion.
