Manohar reviews pace on urban development works

JAMMU, Aug 30: Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance, Stationary and Higher Education, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma on Thursday reviewed status of various urban schemes being implemented in Municipal Committee Billawar at meeting of functionaries of Local Bodies, here today.
Director Local Bodies, F C Bhagat, Executive Engineer, Urban Local Body Division-II, Qazi, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Billawar, Ravinder Singh and other senior officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
The Minister sought information about the projects executed under   centrally sponsored schemes like ISHOP and UIDSSMT which mainly include public assets.
The meeting was informed that works like construction of waiting hall near Sub-District Hospital Billawar, construction of Community Hall at Billawar Marhoon, improvement/up-gradation of lanes and drains in main bazaar from Sukral to new Bus Stand Billawar, road from Tilla to Sarman, construction of small bridges, passenger sheds have been taken up under the twin schemes.
Seeking the information about the status of work, the Minister asked the executing agency to gear up pace and ensure use of quality material so that these ambitious projects could be completed in a specific time period. He cautioned that   anybody found using sub-standard material would face stern action.
The Minster   also took stock of the damage caused to the roads and public assets due to heavy rains and directed the concerned to immediately restore/repair the same.
