KATHUA, July 3: As a part of country-wide protest programme of Congress against Central Government on rising prices of petrol and diesel, former legislators Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and Subhash Gupta organized protests at Ramkote and Hiranagar in district Kathua today.
DCC Kathua president and former minister Dr Manohar Lal conducted peaceful protest at Main Bazaar Ramkote in Billawar constituency where in, many BCC functionaries and party workers participated.
While speaking on the occasion Dr Sharma said that rising prices of petrol and diesel can be termed as organized loot by BJP. He said it is shameful that when prices of crude oil per barrel are all time low in the world, then instead of decreasing fuel prices BJP Government is regularly increasing.
Manohar claimed that public will not tolerate loot of public money by the Modi Government and demanded immediate roll back of the rising prices. He said common people, the middle class, farmers, transporters and small and medium businessmen are “bearing the pain” of high petro rates.
Ex-MLC Subash Gupta and Ex-MLA GL Chalotra led another similar protest at Hiranagar where in the workers shouted loud slogans against Modi Govt. They were carrying banners and placards demanding roll back on prices of petro products. Keeping social distancing, the congress activists dispersed after holding brief protest.
