KATHUA, Nov 24: In order to listen and mitigate the problems of the people at their door step, Minister of State for Fisheries and Cooperatives, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma convened public meetings at Dhandiyan and Thamnal of tehsil Billawar, today.
At Dhandiyan, the locals demanded new ration card for the left out families, upgradation of Primary School Dhandiyan, upgradation of transformer, play ground for the school, blacktopping of Gurha Kalyal to Dhandiyan, new water supply scheme for the area and provision for lift irrigation schemes.
At Thamnal, the issues highlighted by the representatives included, upgradation of Middle School Thamnal, dispensary/ medical facilities, water supply for the area, cutting and tailoring centre and playground for school, addressing shortage of kerosene oil and BPL ration etc.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma assured the people that their genuine demands will be given due consideration and redressed in a time bound manner. He appealed the elected panchs and sarpanchs to act in close coordination with the local administration in the implementation of various welfare and flagship development programmes in their respective Panchayats. He said Coalition Government is keen to uplift the socio-economic condition of the rural masses, adding that functional panchayats with infrastructure will pave way for rapid growth and progress.
The Minister gave on spot directions to various departments to redress grievances and development needs of people on priority basis. He also exhorted upon the officers to complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated time ensuring quality as per norms.
