Manoranjan Kala Kendra stages ‘Lal Ghanair’

JAMMU, Oct 31: Manoranjan Kala Kendra presented Rabindra Nath Tagore’s Bengali natak “Lal Ghanair” in Punjabi at Luthra College of Education.
The play was translated by Dr Sabdish and directed by Tejinder Singh “Premee”.
The play speaks the life narration of Nandani, who has come to basti people. Natak’s story also speaks the attractive behaviour of Nandani.
A local namely Kishore brings the Ghanair flowers in a loving style to present it to Nandani because Lal Ghanair flowers are very much liked by her.
Local king also falls in love with Nandani, but he was unable to bring Lal Ghanair for Nandini. In the mean time, one professor also falls in love with Nandani and tries to attract her by growing Lal Ghanair flower in his garden.
Ranjan also Nandani’s local lover goes to residence of king, where the latter kills him and brings the body to the Nandani’s residence and tells her that she will be the queen after marrying him (king). Nandani refuses the offer and local people also get attracted towards her decision and enjoy the democratic atmosphere of the locality.
The natak was based on the theme that ‘we can fight against the evils by method of unity is strength’.
Those who participated in the natak are Sushmita Banerjee as Nandani, Anil Kumar as Kishore, Davinder Singh as Basu, Mukesh Sharma as Professor, Tajinder Singh Premee as Raja, Shubam Banerjee as Vibuti, Mousmi as Amba, Narain as Sardaar, Vipalue Shastri as Gusain, Sajaad Bihari as Sipahi, Rahul Singh as Sipahi. The lights were designed by Amit Sharma and Ajay Sharma, music by Balwinder Kour, make up by Antu Kotwal and Vipna Chouhan, costumers by Parkash Kour, set managed by ML Sharma and Dr R Thappa, Sushmita Banerjee as production controller.
On the occasion, Rajeev Luthra, Chairman, Luthra College of Education, Sanjeev Luthra, Managing Director, Luthra Group of Institutions, Pritpal Singh Betab, Retd IAS and renowned Urdu writer and Davinder Singh, president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha were also present.
