Man’s death sparks protest; family alleges doctors’ negligence

JAMMU, Nov 11: Family and relatives of a man today staged protest in front of the emergency unit of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu after he died due to alleged negligence of doctors in the hospital.
According to the reports, the man identified as Chandu Ram, 38, son of Paras Ram, a resident of Krel Manhasa, Bishnah, was admitted in GMCH Jammu due to electric burn on November 8. As the man died today, the family members and relatives of the man today staged a protest in front of emergency unit of the hospital alleging negligence of the doctors as the reason of the death.
Raising slogans against the hospital administration, the protesting kin of the deceased demanded an enquiry into the role of doctors. Officials of police and hospital administration rushed to the spot and pacify the situation by assuring them of enquiry.
Meanwhile, seeking official inquiry into the death of the man, the family members of the deceased submitted a written complaint to Principal, GMCH Jammu, Dr Zahid H Gillani. Later, after conducting post mortem of the deceased, body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
