POONCH, Oct 5: A decomposed body of a middle-aged man was recovered from the maize fields at village Kas Baladi in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
The deceased, identified as Maqdoom Ali, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Bagiot hamlet near Kas Baladi in Mendhar tehsil was missing for the last ten days. Today his decomposed body was found lying in the maize fields not far from his house.
Victim’s wife noticed the body and informed other members of the family. They informed police and his postmortem was conducted on the spot by two doctors. The body was later laid to rest by the family.
SHO, Mendhar Mohd Inayat said since the man was missing for the last ten days, it is strange that no member of the family lodged missing report with the police. And for the last ten days nobody in the family traced the body in the maize fields which were not far away from their house and today only wife traced the same. It was giving foul smell and some parts had been apparently eaten by the inspects or animals. He said a bottle of insecticides was also lying near the body. A murder case can not be ruled out. However, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC have been launched, the SHO said.
