Mansbal to be developed as heritage village: Jora

Srinagar, MAY 13- Manasbal village would be developed as a heritage village under Mega Tourism Destination Scheme, said Tourism and Culture  Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora today during his visit to Manasbal Lake.
The Minster said the Union Government has already approved funds amounting Rs. 2.50 crore for the purpose. He said a bird watchers tower would be also constructed at the lake side so that visiting tourists watch bird movement at the lake.
He said that water sports activities are also being promoted in the lake for water sports lovers, adding that in this regard several initiatives have already been taken which includes imparting water sports training  to the  local youth. He said that the existing residential structures around lake periphery would be face lifted.
The Minister inspected under execution Food Craft Centre, Open Air theatre and Kulpora Temple which are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.50 crore by Wullar Mansbal Development Authority (WMDA) at  lake side for facilitation of tourists. He also inspected pedestrian walk way being constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.17 crore. He directed concerned authorities to ensure time bound completion of these projects with use of quality material and local aesthetic look.
Mr. Jora also inspected hutment area of JKTDC and WMDA and took stock of the functioning and arrangements made by these institutions for convenience of the tourists. He instructed for ensuring better hygienic and catering facilities to the tourists. He also instructed concerned to launch an awareness campaign among locals and tourists for ensuring complete cleanliness and preservation of this world famous lake.
