JAMMU, Sept 14: Many educational institutions here today celebrated Hindi Diwas and organized different programmes in this regard.
Hindi Day and Hindi Fortnight (September 14-29, 2023) were inaugurated today under the aegis of Rajbhasha Cell of Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus Jammu. On this occasion, Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Rishiraj said that it was decided to celebrate Hindi Day and Hindi Fortnight every year from 14 September 1953 by launching a campaign to make Hindi the official language throughout India. Amit Rai, Manager, SBI, Kot was chief guest. Dr. Amitash Ojha was present as Saraswatitithi and he talked about the contribution of the University in propagation of Hindi. Special guest, Prof. Satish Kumar Kapoor clarified the importance of Hindi by highlighting the importance of the language. President of the programme, Campus Director, Prof. Madan Mohan, while throwing light on the importance of Hindi Fortnight, said that Hindi should be made the language of masses by organizing various competitions for the promotion of Hindi.
On Hindi Diwas, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu organized a discussion on ‘Status and prospects of Hindi in Jammu Kashmir’ in which several distinguished litterateurs and senior journalists of Jammu participated. The students of Journalism also discussed ‘Status of Hindi in Media’. Indian Forest Officer (retired), O.P Sharma Vidyarthi stated that Hindi is the language that unites our country. Senior journalist Sanjiv Dubey said that situation of Hindi in media has changed and Hindi is understandable in every part of J&K. Prof. Anil Saumitra, Regional Director, IIMC, Jammu said: “We must be proud of our language just like PM Modi has addressed the G20 Summit in Hindi recently.”
Centre for Biodiversity Studies and Department of Zoology, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology BGSB University, Rajouri celebrated National Hindi Diwas with great fervour. This year’s theme for the day is ‘Hindi Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence’ to raise awareness of the significance of Hindi in the nation. Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor BGSBU talked on the importance of Hindi.
Hindi Divas was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm at Central University of Jammu (CUJ). Vice Chancellor (VC) CUJ, Prof. Sanjeev Jain was chief guest and he exhorted the employees to whole heartedly adopt Hindi in their day-to-day functioning as well as in official works. He also said that we should unite and do administrative work in Hindi only as there is nothing simpler and more convenient than Hindi. Dr. Dalip Kumar, Associate Prof. IIMC Jammu was the key speaker and he threw light on the history of Hindi Diwas celebration.
Government College of Education (GCOE), Jammu organized a Poetry Competition to commemorate Hindi Diwas. Objective of the programme was to mark the need, uses, importance and virtue of Hindi. Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal GCOE made everyone aware about the importance of Hindi language. She said that Hindi language is not only used in India but also in other countries. Prof. Satish K Sharma, HoD Hindi explained the journey and origin of Hindi language and its usages since Vedic and Sanskrit Era.
On Hindi Diwas, Dogra Degree College organized Hindi poetry recitation competition under the aegis of ‘Hindi Pakhwada’. There were 15 participants in the programme who were allowed to recite their self-composed poems or the poems of renowned poets of Hindi language. Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College motivated the students to learn, speak, read and write Hindi language.
Department of Hindi in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a series of activities like documentary screening, poster-making, symposium and poetry recitation competitions to commemorate Hindi Diwas. Students of Hindi and NSS volunteers of the College participated actively in the events. Whole of the event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College who while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the importance of celebrating such days.
Government Degree College (GDC) Ramgarh celebrated Hindi Diwas-2023 wherein poetry recitation contest and a symposium were held. The whole event was organized by the Department of Hindi of the College in collaboration with NSS unit ‘Prabha’ under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, GDC Principal.
Hindi Diwas was celebrated at GDC Marh under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. A slogan writing competition was organized in the College. The programme started with the formal address by Principal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, wherein he stressed that Hindi is the fourth most spoken language and language of communication for a significant portion of Indian population. This language helps us to understand and appreciate Indian culture and traditions.
Department of Hindi GDC Nowshera in collaboration with Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat under the banner of IQAC of GDC Nowshera organized poetry competition to celebrate Hindi Diwas under the patronage of Principal, Dr. K.K Sharma. Speaking on the occasion Principal of the College asked the students to promote Hindi language. He also said that Hindi unites entire country.
Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur celebrated Hindi Diwas with great fervour and enthusiasm. A debate competition was organized by Department of Hindi of the College in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Language Propagation Committee. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma was the organizer and the chief guest was eminent Dogri Writer, Padmashri Prof. Shiv Dutt Nirmohi. The welcome address was given by Dr. S.K Magotra, Principal of the College.
Department of Hindi at Government College Udhampur organized a seminar on Hindi Diwas under the guidance of Principal of the College, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta. Quoting Dr. Rajendra Prasad Dr. Gupta said: “A country which is not proud of its mother tongue and history is headed towards decline”. He said that such programs will continue to be organized in Government College Udhampur in future also. Prof. Sanjit Singh, Head of the Hindi Department termed Hindi as the story of pride of India.
GDC Bishnah celebrated Hindi Diwas with fervour and enthusiasm and an essay writing competition was organized in this regard by the Department of Hindi under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada, HoD Hindi. Principal of the College, Dr. Manohar Lal also spoke on the occasion.
The Department of Hindi at GDC Dharmari celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm under the supervision of Principal, Dr. Preetpal Kour. The students of Hindi Department recited famous Hindi poems which showcased rich heritage and cultural diversity of Hindi language. A session on Hindi Shabdavali was taken by Prof. Baldev Singh thereby popularizing common Hindi expressions and words for daily usage.
Department of Hindi of GDC Marheen celebrated Hindi Diwas by organizing a series of activities like essay writing competition regarding the literature of Munshi Prem Chand, symposium etc. The programme was organized under the patronage of Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta who emphasized on the importance of Hindi language and motivated the students to promote it in their areas.
GDC Mahanpur celebrated Hindi Diwas under the patronage of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. Dr. Sudan explained that Hindi Diwas is important as it symbolizes the rich linguistic diversity of India and promotes the use and preservation of Hindi language.
On Hindi Diwas, Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu organized a Rabies Awareness Programme which was conducted by Dr. Smruti Smita Mohapatra, Rabies Ambassador, Rabies Awareness Programme Jammu under the banner of Vigyan Setu Foundation. The programme was organized to aware students about harmful disease called Rabies. Dr. Mohapatra described various ways useful to prevent and cure rabies. Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi appreciated the efforts of Vigyan Setu Organisation.
MV International School in association with Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu celebrated Hindi Diwas with great fervour and enthusiasm. The event showcased a range of creative competitions including self-made poetry, slogan writing competition and one-act plays. Distinguished guests who graced the occasion were Dr. Chanchal Dogra, Ex-Principal of Govt MAM College Jammu; Prof. Kiran Bakshi, Ex-Principal of Govt Women College Parade Jammu; Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, Playwright, Story Writer and Income Tax Officer Jammu and others.
Kotwal National Institute of Teaching Bharat Nagar Talab Tillo celebrated Hindi Diwas. Students of classes IX and X delivered speeches highlighting the importance of speaking and communicating in Hindi language. Principal of the Institute, Bimla Blawria stressed upon the need of speaking in Hindi while Director Prof. J.L Kotwal also spoke on the occasion.
Students of DHSS celebrated Hindi Divas and a special assembly was held in the school in which junior students recited poems and senior classes up to 10th took part in slogans and mantras. Managing Director of the School, Kunwar Gambhir Dev Singh Charak inspired the students to pay respect to Hindi language which is deeply rooted in our culture.
Sunrise Public School, Channi Himmat celebrated Hindi Diwas. Teachers of the School threw light on the importance of Hindi. On this day the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi as official language of India. Rajesh Sharma, Founder Trustee of School, Asha Rani, Ritu Sharma, Neha Arora, Balkrishan, Zuberia Sheikh, Rashi Gupta, Sonia, Divya Kesar and Nisha Rani were also present on the occasion.
The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages under the guidance of Bharat Singh, Academy Secretary organized a Kavi Goshthi and cultural programme in connection with Hindi Diwas. Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Sahitya Akademi Awardee was chief guest while Prof. Ashok Gupta, former faculty at Department of Hindi, University of Jammu presided over the function. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Assistant Editor Hindi at JKAACL.
To commemorate Hindi Diwas, Dohaareen Kala Manch (DKM), Billawar organized national level essay and poetry writing competition under the guidance of Shuvam Mankotia, president Dohaareen Kala Manch, Billawar. Students from various Institutions across the country participated in the competition. E-certificates were awarded to the all the participants of the competition. While interacting with the team members of DKM, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former additional secretary JKAACL said that organizing such type of online programs, this will boost the youth for facilitating their ability in creative writing.
Hindi Diwas was observed Gandhi Memorial College Bantalab in which students B.Ed, Mass Communication and Commerce Departments participated.
