NEW DELHI, Oct 18:
There are a number of Indians in Pakistan jails, who are waiting to be identified as such, according to the information given by the government in Islamabad.
The Indian High Commission has been informed by the Pakistan Government about a number of individuals in their custody and who, they believe, are Indian nationals. However, the High Commission has not been able to establish the national identity of these individuals for lack of sufficient detail and information of their background and place of permanent residence.
The Commission has appealed to people in India to help in the task of identification of these people. “The High Commission is keen to establish the antecedents of those in this list, who may be Indian nationals. “Members of public in India, especially those who may have knowledge of any of these persons from past acquaintance, are requested to share details in this regard with the High Commission of India and the Ministry of External Affairs,” the High Commission said in a post on its website.
