CHENNAI : In a sudden development, three people, including a close aide of Former Union Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran, were arrested by the CBI late last night in connection with the telephone exchange case.
A special CBI team from New Delhi arrived here last night and arrested V Gowthaman, Former Additional Private Secretary to Mr Dayanidhi Maran, Chief Technical Officer of Sun TV S Kannan, and KS Ravi, working as Electrician in Sun TV. They would be produced before a court and taken into custody for detailed interrogation.
CBI sources said the arrests were made to ‘collect some crucial evidence which may unravel during their custodial interrogation.’ The case was Mr Maran during his tenure as Telecom Minister had set up a telephone exchange at his house to enable data transfer benefitting Sun TV Group owned by his brother Kalanidhi Maran.
