Margund residents demand bund along Sindh

Srinagar, Jan 7: The residents of Hamza Colony, Margund, in district Ganderbal, today demanded the immediate construction of a bund along the Nallah Sindh flowing through the area.
While in winter, people do not face any issues, come summer when the water level increases, the population is exposed to a number of dangers, including safety concerns for the children in the area.
Fayaz Ahmad, a local resident, said that they have been reaching out to the authorities for the construction of the bund; however, he noted that their demand remained unresolved.
“Recently, we again met the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, as well as the officers of other concerned departments who told us that the construction of the bund is in the plan and the same will be started soon,” he said, adding that the work must be kick-started before the advent of the summer season.
Another resident, Shah Muhammad, said that due to the absence of the bund along the Nallah-which is full of gushing water during the summer-the adjacent road as well as the electricity utilities face damages on and off.
