Marheen police rescues 2 bovines, arrests smuggler

KATHUA, May 5: Tightening the noose of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, Kathua R C Kotwal, today rescued two bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh near Blassa Khoo, Marheen, arrested one person and seized one vehicle involved in smuggling of bovines.
A police team of Police Post (PP) Marheen led by PSI Swaran Singh Manhas in charge Police Post (PP) Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan during naka checking duty noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing Registration No. JK08F-6290 enrouted from Link Road Blassa Kho, Marheen towards Chadwal which was being driven by a person namely Kuldeep Raj, son of Naseeb Chand of Jogial Tehsil Marheen district Kathua who was signaled to stop for checking.
During checking of the vehicle, two bovines were found loaded in it mercilessly which were rescued and one person was arrested on spot. The vehicle involved in the smuggling of animals was seized . A case was registered at Police Station (PS), Rajbagh vide FIR No. 91/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA Act and further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
