SRINAGAR, June 13: On the direction of SSP Anantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan, a surprise market checking was conducted by SHO Larnoo along with Naib Tehsildar Larnoo and Municipal Committee officers at Main Chowk Larnoo in Anantnag district.
A Police spokesman said that the market checking was aimed to ensure the quality and to curb black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities and to keep vigil on erring shopkeepers during the holy month of Ramadan.
He said during checking, the joint team destroyed outdated food items, rotten vegetables and fruits. Fine was also realized from various shopkeepers for violating the legal regulations. The squad also seized and destroyed large quantity of polythene bags on spot. “The drive will continue in the district so that quality of commodities is ensured,” he said
Budgam police along with Tehsildar Budgam, executive officer municipality Budgam, CAPD Department Budgam and Legal Metrology Department Budgam conducted a surprise market checking in Budgam town and adjoining areas today.
A police spokesman said that during checking, a huge quantity of rotten eatables and other commodities were destroyed and a revenue of Rs 12900 was realized on spot as fine from violators.
