Market checking squads book defaulters, realize Rs 27500 fine

JAMMU, July 3: The market checking teams, constituted by Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, to keep a check on prices and quality of essential commodities particularly meat and chicken during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr inspected various markets of Jammu city.
The teams conducted surprise checking in various localities of city including Talab Khatikan, Ustad Mohalla, Amphalla, New Plot, Janipur, Channi, Narwal, Trikuta Nagar and adjoining areas.
The erring shopkeepers were booked for different violations like non display of rates lists and food safety certificates, overcharging, use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes, unstamped meat and unverified weighing scale. A fine of Rs 27500 was also realized from the defaulters.
The teams were comprised of ADC, Rifat Kohli, ACR, Sachan Dev Singh, ACG, Sachin Jamwal, Deputy Controller, Legal Meteorology, Manoj Prabhakar, ADs of CAPD Department, Food Safety Officers besides officials of JMC.
