JAMMU, Apr 25: A deputation of office bearers of Martand Tirath Trust led by its president, A K Sidha called on Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri here, today to take the stock of month long festival of Malmas and Banmas (Adhik Mas) being held from May 13 to June 14 at Martand Shrine in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
The Trust members informed the Minister that this year thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country are expected to visit the ancient shrine. The Trust members also submitted a memorandum to Minister seeking full cooperation of the Government in making the festival a success and providing all facilities to yatris.
They said that arrangements of Langer (community kitchen), boarding and lodging for the yatris be also made in advance. The cleanliness in and around the shrine be also made.
The Minister issued orders to the concerned officers to take necessary measures in advance so that the month long yatra runs smoothly. He also urged officers to fully cooperate with the Trust in this regard.
He urged the heads of various departments to provide the facilities of transport, ration etc. He also assured that the deployment of police will be made well in time besides tent and bedding facilities will also be provided. He also said that the team of sweepers for cleaning the rooms and bath rooms etc will be available round the clock.
The Minister issued instructions to D C Anantnag, A C Food & Supply, CMO, DFO, Executive Engineer PDD, Municipality officers to take proper care of arrangements.
Later a team of district authorities under the supervision of D C Anantnag visited Martand Shrine to take the stock of arrangements there.
The Working Committee members A K Tickoo, B B Sadhu, Moti Lal Tickoo, Tej Krishan Tickoo, T K Kichloo, R J Bawnoo and Sanjeev Khah were the others in the delegation.
