Martand Tirath Trust’s plea to DDC Anantnag

JAMMU, June 10: The Executive members of Martand Tirath Trust in a meeting here today under the chairmanship of its president Ashok Sidha has made an appeal to District Development Commissioner, Anantnag urging him to pursue the development project of the shrine vigorously which has been recently sanctioned by the Lt. Governor, G C Murmu.
The meeting said that as the holy shrine is under the category of tourism cum pilgrimage of Central Government all the sacred places in the shrine need immediate repairmen which included Dharamshallas at Lakutyaar Bongam, where the yatris used to sit during the sacred month of Malmas Banmas. It further demanded that two Dharamshallas be constructed at that place as soon as possible as this year the Adhikmas is going to start from September 17 and will culminate on October 16. Thousands of yatris are expected to visit the shrine during the holy month from all corners of India and abroad for performing religious rituals on the bank of Chaka Dev Nadi (rivulet) which is known to be sacred Ganga Ji of Kashmir where these rituals take place on open Kacha Ghats.
The meeting said from Lukutyar to Sangam there are ghats spread at a distance of one km but there are no sheds for shelter of pilgrims from the Sun and rain. The meeting demanded construction of pacca ghats and sheds on the bank. It said the Dharamshalla at Lakutyaar is in dilapidated condition. A beautiful park be also constructed at Sangam. A dharamshalla has been sanctioned at this place.
