VIJAYPUR, Dec 13 : 42nd Martyrdom Day of Capt Bahadur Singh is being observed on December 15 at the martyr’s native village Bhambo Chak in Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
On the occasion, rich tributes will be paid to the martyr while brilliant students belonging to poor families will be awarded.
This was informed by members of the Capt Bahadur Singh Smarak Samiti, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Urging people to participate in the Martyrdom Day function, president of the Samiti, Balwan Singh said that chief guest on the occasion will be the Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia. He opined that such occasions educate youth to follow the footprints of martyrs and sacrifice their lives for the nation.
General secretary Sat Pal Salarvi threw light on the life of martyr Capt Bahadur Singh, who sacrificed his life while participating in Cactus Lilli operation in Badmer, Rajasthan in 1971 war with Pakistan.
In 1994, a statute of the martyr was installed in his native village and thereafter a committee was also constituted for organizing the Martyrdom Day every year.
The press conference was also attended by Ujjagar Singh, Avinash Choudhary, Rewal Singh and Atma Singh.
