Srinagar, Oct 5: Protests erupted in South Kashmir’s Zialgam village after a woman was allegedly ‘abducted’ by two masked man donning Army uniform to a nearby forest last night.
As soon as the news spread in the village, people came out and held protests. There was a complete shutdown in the area and people were demanding inquiry into the incident.
The 35-year-old woman, mother of three children, told a news agency: “At 1:00 am on Saturday late night, I came out in the compound of my father’s house to attend nature’s call. Suddenly, two masked men wearing Army uniform dragged me into nearby forests. I tried to shout, but they choked my mouth.” The woman was, however, set free by abductors.
Confirming abduction of the women, police said the woman has been sent for medical examination. However, they ruled out any sexual assault on the woman.
Police said they are looking into the issue.
