SRINAGAR, May 3: National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament (MP) from Anantnag (retd) Justice Hassnain Masoodi today visited district Anantnag and held a review meeting with the concerned district administration on the efforts underway to combat the viral spread.
Masoodi took stock of the efforts by District Administration Anantnag towards curbing the spread of COVID and facilitating the treatment of the infected. During his day-long visit to the district, he also visited the Trauma hospital at Bijbehara to have first hand appraisal about the facilities being made available to the people by district administration.
The District Administration apprised the visiting MP that 2300 RT-PCR, RAT tests are done on a daily basis in the district. He was also acquainted that 3500 vaccines are administered to the people on a daily basis. On the status of the availability of cryptogenic oxygen, the visiting MP was told that a 100 LPM facility is being commissioned at GMC Anantnag and an additional 1000 LPM oxygen producing facility will shortly come up at Trauma hospital Bijbehara.
On the status of the containment zone, the MP was told that 23 localities in the district have been designated as red zones. On the issue of availability of beds, the concerned district authorities told the visiting MP that an additional facility of 650 beds was in operation at Degree College Larkipura. In addition, he was told, one such facility is coming up at Siligam, Akura. He was also apprised that the administration is taking all steps to augment the availability of oxygen beds for the patients.
The visiting MP impressed upon the District Administration to supplement the oxygen supported beds to meet the rate of infections. He stressed upon the District Administration to give a boost to the stocks of Covid care drugs, vaccines and other critical care equipment at all PHC/MMCs, SDHs and TB centers across the district.
The MP also expressed concern over the shortage of essentials in the Government designated red zones in the district and urged the District Administration to ensure availability of all essentials to the people stuck in such containment zones.
