JAMMU, Oct 23: Following detection of mass copying in Government Higher Secondary School Pancheri, where class 12th bi-annual (private) exam was being held, explanation of the concerned school Principal and Superintendent has been called besides recommendation of suspension of a Police Constable, who was also aiding and abetting copying at the centre.
The action was taken on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who was apprised about the mass copying by Joint Secretary, J&K Board of School Education, Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer.
According to an official spokesman of BOSE, Dr Peer along with his team visited the several examination centres following information about mass copying. While exam in various centres was going on smoothly, irregularities were detected at Government Higher Secondary School Pancheri where Principal was not present in the school as he was on another official duty. However, the Superintendent appointed by BOSE was also not on his duty and another Superintendent, appointed by the School Principal without any intimation to the BOSE office, was in the examination centre where mass copying was going on with the help of supervisory staff. Astonished over the mass copying, the BOSE Jt Secretary pointed this to the Police Constable, deployed there on duty. However, the cop neither intervened nor disclosed his name.
Later, Dr Peer met DC Udhampur and apprised him about the mass copying, which was adversely affecting overall educational scenario in the State. The DC immediately called ADC and asked him to issue directives to the DDO, Tehsildar and CEO Udhampur for immediate calling explanation of erring Principal and Superintendent for dereliction of their duties. He also recommended suspension of the Police Constable, who was on duty at that time and was allegedly involved in aiding and abetting mass copying.
Besides, Dr Peer also took up the matter with Director School Education and sought disqualification of such staff for further duties in the examination centres. He also directed the BOSE staff at Udhampur to exercise more vigilance in the notorious centre and appoint such Superintendents, who are known for their honesty.
