Ramban gets Rs 70.42 cr annual plan

RAMBAN, June 19: District Development Board Ramban that met under the chairmanship of Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla approved Rs. 70.42 crore annual plan for the mountainous district for the current fiscal.
Vice Chairman, DDB Ramban and Minister for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Member of Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool, District Development Commissioner, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Chief Planning Officer, Ram Rattan, Heads of various departments and district officers were present in the meeting.
Urging them to make extra efforts to accomplish the targets with optimum utilization of funds, Mr. Bhalla called upon the officers to concentrate on growth of under developed and backward areas of the district which is one of the main agenda of the Government. . He said that Government was committed to develop hilly and far-off areas of the district with better civic amenities, adding that in this regard massive development activities have been launched to ensure effective development of every corner of the district.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure timely completion of various road projects taken up under PMGSY, besides settlement of all pending land compensation cases.
The Minister said the Government was endeavouring hard to create revenue infrastructure in every nook and corner of the State with special emphasis on computerization of all land records. He said that every effort was being made to streamline the revenue related services to make the system less cumbersome for the common people and ensure precision in the maintenance of records.
District Development Commissioner gave a detailed resume of the physical and financial achievements registered ending March 2012.
MLAs of Ramban and Banihal, put-forth various developmental demands of their respective areas which include timely completion of District Complex Building at Maitra, acquisition of 60 kanals of land for Degree College at Banihal, construction of bridge over river Chenab at Maitra under CRF, construction of bus stand at Banihal, augmentation of power infrastructure in district, creation of transformer banks and repairs of transformers at the earliest.
The Chairman DDB assured the MLAs that their genuine demands would be redressed in a phased manner. He said Government was fully aware of the hardships being faced by the people of hilly & far- off areas of the district and it was making all efforts to mitigate them on priority basis.
