Massive fire in Kalidhar, Sunderbani forests

NOWSHERA, June 16: Massive forest fire in Kalidhar Range besides Sunderbani and Nowshera forests has extensive damage to flora and fauna.
Official sources said that fresh forest fire in Compartment No. 124 and 125 of Sunderbani Range for the last two days could not be controlled and has engulfed larger area. The Forest Range staff led by RO Arif Mirza, was on the job to control the fire. They have also sounded alert in the adjoining villages and hamlets.
The fire in Lam and Pukharni area of Nowshera sector has also engulfed large area since yesterday. The army authorities sounded alert as the fire at some places was reaching closer to their installations.
In Kalidhar Range also, the Forest fire at 4-5 places has caused extensive damage to the forests and animal life. Even the movement of traffic at some places on the highway had to be suspended for some time during last two days due to fire reaching closer to the road, the official sources said.
Conservator of Forests B Mohan Dass, West Circle said that he was closely monitoring the fire. He claimed that Forest staff was on the job and fire has been controlled at several places.
