UDHAMPUR, Apr 27: Massive fire in Swena forest area of Udhampur was controlled after the Indian Air Force (IAF) Helicopters today joined the fire fighting operation to control blazes.
On the request of District Administration Udhampur, a rapidly emerging fire disaster for the villagers of Bainth, Panchayat Charrat was promptly addressed by troops of Udhampur Military Garrison last night. Army units of 71 Sub Area under HQ Northern Command dispatched fire tenders and fire fighters of Defence Fire Services along with quick reaction team ensuring timely containment of the forest fire rapidly approaching the village. The fire is now under control.
Close liaison and coordination between civil administration and military, complemented by undaunted and valiant efforts of the troops on ground thus averted a major disaster for the villagers.
