JAMMU, Apr 30: A large number of low paid employees from various Government organizations and Public Sector Undertakings took out a large rally in connection with the May Day in the winter capital city here today.
Veteran Trade Union leader and president, All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) Abdul Majid Khan was leading the May Day Rally. The workers from various districts of Jammu region assembled at Parade Ground on the eve of May Day this afternoon and then started grand rally. Many of them were carrying banner and placards in their hands.
After passing through various markets and bazaars, the rally was culminated near Shahidi Chowk where, Federation president Majid Khan and other trade unionists- Kabla Singh, Krishan Singh and Babu Ram adressed.
Majid Khan greeted the employees for their persistent struggle succeeded in achieving though partially some long pending demands like release of 6 % DA, hike in pension after 80 years of age of pensioners on Central Pattern, revision of TMA of Durbar Move employees and enhancement of remuneration of Village Guards and Numberdars etc. He said this strengthened the determination of the employees.
Mr Khan projected the demand of release of 6 % DA due from January 2016 in cash, enhancement of Medical allowance, restoration of LTC in the State, revision of minimum daily wage to Rs 300, regularization of adhoc/ contractual/ daily wage employees, payment of wages to the employees appointed under new pension scheme, removal of pay anomalies etc.
Mr Khan and other speakers paid befitting tributes to the martyrs of May Day who sacrificed their lives for the cause of working class of the world and criticized anti-people and anti-working class policies of the successive Central and State Governments, resulting in steep price hike, growing unemployment and deprived them of their rights.
