Massive tourist flow good sign for Valley : Balbir

JAMMU, Apr 18: Visit of record 3.5 lakh tourists to Tulip Garden in Kashmir this year, with the Summer tourist season still ahead and snow fall periods to come in Winters, it is expected that Valley will witness more activities with regard to tourism in as compared to the previous years.
In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while expressing views that the reports of 3.5 lakh tourists visiting the early months of this year, said that it is a good sign indicating that Valley will see an excellent tourist season. He said that it is also a sign that Kashmir, is, once again, becoming the first choice for the nature loving people in India and abroad.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that the tourist flow in large will serve many purposes. It will help benefit local people, directly and indirectly, associated with hotels, houseboats, Kashmiri Handicrafts, dry fruits etc. This will be a boost to local economy and promote employment.
The BJP spokesperson said that the annual holy yatra of Shri Amarnath is going to be started in the month of June and the figures of overwhelming response for registration for the same also indicate that pilgrims too will reach here in large numbers. It will also prove to be a boon, as the people undertaking this pilgrimage will have options to visit tourist spots not in Kashmir but in Jammu province as well.
Balbir said that while we express joy over the increase in number of people visiting J&K as tourists, one should not forget that it has come to be possible only due to return of peace and normalcy to great extent. The credit for the same goes to the Union Government, the UT administration and the joint operations of various security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for the last over 30 years.
