JAMMU, July 14: With improvement in situation that had plunged Jammu and Kashmir UT into sorrow and grief due to COVID-19 causing loss to a large number of precious human lives, it has now been observed that the people have started ignoring the laid down SOPs/guidelines and are rushing to the tourist destinations for picnics and excursions, which should have been avoided for some more time in view of the reported third wave of the deadly virus.
Balbir Ram Rattan, spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir BJP, said this while stressing upon the people to follow precautions as the Corona has not gone fully and the threat of third wave is looming large. So people should not take the relaxations in restrictions as a license to assemble in large numbers, thus violating social distancing precaution.
Balbir said that people should not forget that the impact of COVID-19 could only be reduced to great extent only because of the strictly following the COVID precautions, but the threat is not over as still deaths are reported on daily basis in Jammu as well as Kashmir provinces.
In such a situation, any carelessness can prove to be harmful. “People in large number are seen going to tourist places in groups with friends and family members, violating the protective measures like use of face masks, maintaining social distance etc, which may act as an open invitation to the Corona virus to infect the human bodies”. Balbir said and added that everyone has to co-operate and contribute in fight against COVID-19.
Balbir said that there is no doubt that the visits of people to tourist spots promote local business and provide means of bread earning but in view of the dangers ahead, if third wave enters J&K, then managing safety and survival of human lives would be a difficult task for the Government as well as the people.
He said that priority should be to make Jammu & Kashmir totally free of COVID-19 and not feel joyous with fall in the cases. He appealed the people to reconsider their plans to go out for picnics and follow guidelines issued from time to time by the Government.
