New Delhi, Jan 8: Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur inaugurated the Ladakh Pavilion at the South Asian Trade and Travel Exchange (SATTE-2020) expo, in presence of the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC-Leh, Gyal P Wangyal, Member of Parliament, Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Executive Councilor Tourism LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunchok Tashi, Commissioner/Secretary Tourism, Rigzin Samphel, Director Tourism, Ladakh, Mumtaz Ali, Presidents and Members of the Trade and Travel industry of Ladakh.
SATTE is an expo with over 1000 participants from more than 50 countries and 28 Indian states. It is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and UNWTO. Aimed at building new business partnerships, SATTE is an important avenue for the promotion of tourism.
Lt. Governor also visited the stalls of Ladakh Pavilion and interacted with the participants. This was the 27th edition of the SATTE. For the first time, Ladakh participated with an independent pavilion earmarked for its tourism sector. Tour operators and hoteliers from across Ladakh participated with great enthusiasm and fervour.
SATTE serves as a prominent platform for promoting tourism. Participation of Union Territory of Ladakh at such a large scale will promote the tourism industry to a great extent. The event was organised by All Ladakh Tour Operators Association, All Kargil Travel Trade Association in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Ladakh. Union Territory of Ladakh proposes to participate in more such national events as well as some international events to promote tourism in Ladakh.
