JAMMU, May 14: Max Foundation (J&K Chapter), a leading International Cancer Support Society, in collaboration with Shriya Bhatt Mission Hospital, today organized a cancer awareness programme.
Patients of Blood Cancer (CML) from across the State like Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Kalakote, Srinagar, Baramulla, Doda and other far flung and hilly areas of the State attended the programme.
Eminent Physician and Neurologist, Dr KL Chowdhary, was the chief guest while AN Koul, editor-in-chief of a leading monthly magazine (NAAD) of J&K, was the guest of honour.
The other guests were Dr Rakesh Raina, MS, AK Bhan, IAAS and social activists Sanjay Dhar and RK Pandita.
Incharge, Max Foundation (J&K Chapter), Vir Ji Bhat, in his speech deliberated on the Max Foundation, its working, its founders, mission, objectives and services.
He also disclosed that foundation is organizing at least two national conferences every year in India to educate the people about blood cancers.
The chief guest in his speech spoke in length about occurence of CML and its treatment. He informed that till date during the last 12 years he has detected many CML patients and all of them were referred to Chandigarh and other cities for treatment, but later he came to know that all of them had been adopted by the Max Foundation as far as their treatment was concerned.
Dr Chowdhary advised the people not to smoke and drink, as it ultimately destroys the Jeanpool. He also advised them not to go for self medication and biological tests and X-rays without the prescription of a doctor. He also replied to the queries of patients regardging cancer, with utmost satisfaction.
AN Koul and AK Bhan also spoke on the occasion while Sanjay Dhar provided many Yoga tips to the patients.
