Mayawati speaks of ‘UP Model’ to woo J&K voters

JAMMU : Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati today wooed the voters of Jammu and Kashmir by counting achievements of her regime in Uttar Pradesh and the ‘UP model’.   “We took care of every section of society but priority was given to the poor section, which also included the poor from upper castes,” Ms Mayawati said while addressing an election rally in support of party candidates of Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.

Altogether 22 Assembly segments in Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts will go to poll in the fourth and fifth phases on December 14 and 20.

“We formed BSP government four times in Uttar Pradesh and gave equal consideration to the poor classes including those of weaker sections and upper castes as well,” she said.   She added that development, uplifting the downtrodden, providing facilities like “Bjli, Sadak and Paani”, remained priority of the BSP government during her term.   “We also constructed ‘Pakka Houses’ for the people living in miserable conditions,” she said, adding that for an overall development of the regions and the people, it was must to have “master key” of power in your hands.   “If you (people) want to get rid of all problems, do not vote to BJP, Congress or any other political party in Jammu and Kashmir but only form BSP government in the state,” she added.   She also assured to develop Jammu and Kashmir as a “model state”.

The BSP MP also blamed BJP and Congress for corruption and inflation and not taking care of the poor.   “We will be having no alliance with any party during J&K Assembly polls and BSP has fielded honest and dedicated people in all the Assembly Constituencies,” she added.   The BSP leader, however, appealed to voters to press the button of “elephant” and vote BSP to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
