JAMMU, July 27: The Mayor of Jammu city, Rajinder Sharma today expressed concern over the sufferings of widows, old age and physically challenged persons due to the stoppage of their pensions for the last some months.
In a press conference here the Mayor has appealed to all the Councillors of JMC to visit widows, old age and physically challenged persons in their Wards and collect data and documents from them to fill their pension forms so that their pension cases may be forwarded to the Social Welfare Department for verification.
He said that these pensions were stopped as much of the beneficiaries had no Priority House Hold (PHH) Ration Cards.
Sharma informed that first PHH Ration Card will be made and after that pension shall be started and those who had no PHH Ration Cards faced problems in getting pensions.
“Those who possess PHH or BPL Ration Cards may directly upload their data and documents on the website of Social Welfare Department and their pensions shall be started soon,” the Mayor told reporters.
He asked the affected people not to get misled by certain wrong elements and urged upon all the Councillors to become a ray of hope for the widows, old age and physically challenged persons who are in need of pension and help them.
