Mayor conducts extensive tour of city areas

JAMMU, Aug 21: To provide better basic amenities to the residents of Jammu city on the coming Shri Krishan Janamastmi festival, Chander Mohan Gupta , Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Parade, Raj Tilak road, Purani Mandi , Link Road etc.
Councillor as well as residents and shopkeepers put forth various demands before the Mayor which includes proper sanitation, lime spray, fogging , installation and repairs of street lights in their Bazars and streets, lifting of stray dogs and animals on routine basis. They also made plea that garbage dumping site opposite Parade ground may be properly cleaned and the compost machine which is lying idle at the said dumping site since long may be lifted so that garbage, filth etc may not remain scattered on the roadside. They also demanded new water pipes with big diameter may be installed at an earliest in the area to over come the water scarcity problem faced by people.
Mayor assured the representatives that all their genuine demands may be redressed & directed the concerned officers to resolve all the issues raised during his tour on war footing basis. Mayor also appealed to the shopkeepers of these areas not to install their belongings outside their shops to avoid traffic congestion in the Old City during the coming festival season and cooperate with JMC staff in making Jammu city neat, clean & green.
The Mayor was accompanied by Sunita Koul , Councillor of Ward No.4 , Prem Singh Chib, Assistant Commissioner (Rev), JMC, Talat Mehmood, Chief Transport Officer, Joginder Bali AEE (Electric), Officers and officials of Health & Veterinary Section of JMC, representatives of Bazar Association & other citizens also accompanied the Mayor during the tour.
Later on the much awaited demands of shopkeepers and general public, of Digiana and Satwari area Mayor also inaugurated the two newly constructed Sulabh Sochalyas at Main Road near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Digiana Pully and Satwari Chowk respectively where Baldev Sigh Billoria , Chairman, Health & Sanitation Committee, Raj Rani Councillor W.No. 45, Dawarka Chowdhary, Councillor W.No. 46, Hardeep Singh, president of Cantonment Board Satwari, Executive Engineer, AEEs, JEs of JMC, inhabitants of Digiana, Satwari, Nai Basti, representatives of Sulabh International, members of Market Association were also present during the inauguration function. Mayor asked the incharge of Sulabh International as well as shopkeepers of the locality to cooperate JMC in maintaining as well as cleanliness of the Sulabh Shochalyas which are being built under Swachh Barat Mission.
