JAMMU, Mar 11: Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMC along with Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor JMC, today inaugurated charging station for E- Rickshaws at Municipal Yard near Dogra Chowk Jewel, Jammu
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that in order to facilitate the people of Jammu city, especially those residing in the areas where garbage collection vehicles cannot reach due to congested lanes, the JMC has launched modern type of E Rickshaws for collecting door to door garbage from these congested localities with proper segregation.
He further said that it is the first type of charging station in UT of J&K which has been developed by JMC with an estimated cost of Rs 22.76 lakh only.
He added that this charging Station has the capacity of charging 34 numbers of E. Rickshaws which can be stationed here after the door to door garbage collection from the allotted wards.
Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, also spoke on the occasion and said that all the Councilors in collaboration with officers/officials of JMC are committed to provide best possible civil & development amenities to the citizens of each ward irrespective of any caste, creed or religion so that Jammu can be made really a Smart City. She also appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with JMC and other allied agencies in all the development activities being undertaken in various parts of the city.
Hardeep Singh Mankotia, Chairman Swacch Bharat Committee JMC; Amit Gupta, Councillor of Ward number 19; Pankaj Gupta, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC ; Atul Gupta, Secretary JMC; Dr Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer JMC; Er Firdos Ahmed Qazi, Executive Engineer; AEE Neeraj Vaid, JE K K Bali and others were also present there during the function.
Besides this, Mayor along with Raj Kumar, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee JMC, Neena Gupta, Councillor of Ward number 50 also conducted an extensive tour of Channi Himmat area. They met with the locals and listened to their issues regarding sanitation , installation/rectification of LED street lights, lifting of stray dogs, construction of leftover lanes/drains, blacktopping of main /interior roads of ward number 50.
The Mayor also kick started the work of laying of Pavar tiles in the various lanes of Sector number 1, Channi Himmat near Gurudwara of Ward No. 50 with an allotted amount of Rs 21 lakh only under Capex.
