JAMMU, June 24: Continuing the drive to provide better development as well as Civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Advocate Purnima Sharma its Deputy Mayor today conducted an extensive tour in the areas of General Bus Stand and its adjoining localities and took stock the ongoing construction work of Nallah flowing through this area.
Anju Dogra, State BJP secretary, Kuldeep Kandhari BJP Jammu district general secretary, Parveen Kerni Jammu East Mandal president, Ashwani Seth Executive Engineer (UEED), along with his team, concerned contractors and representatives of General Bus Stand and BC Road Shopkeepers Association were also present there during the tour. The shopkeepers apprised the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of their various issues as well as maintaining proper sanitation, early completion work of Nallah, removal of encroachments and traffic problems.
Mayor informed them that this particular Nallah is being constructed by the Sewerage & Drainage Department from Bus Stand upto Jewel Chowk at the estimate cost of Rs. 5.97 Crore. It will be properly covered with cemented slab, also having Green Walk Way of about 2.5 ft breadth over it for the pedestrians to walk freely in the already congested area.
Mayor further said that JMC has already taken up the job of constructing and renovation of different Nallahas through AMURT, languishing projects with an amount of Rs. 200- crore as well as simultaneously started the thorough disilting of existing Nallahas of Jammu city since February 2020 to avoid any type of blockages and over flowing of these Nallahas during rainy seasons as locals who resides near the both sides of Nallahas have been facing great hardships due to entering of dirty water into their houses in every rainy season.
Mayor & Deputy Mayor directed the concerned Engineering Wing to complete the ongoing construction work on this nallah as well as other ones within stipulated time period up to the satisfaction of locals with quality work and materials also plant more and more saplings on the both sides of nallahas after their completion where sufficient space is available to avoid any types of encroachment and which will also provide eco-friendly environment in the surrounding localities.
