JAMMU, Jan 11: In order to provide best possible development amenities to the citizens of Jammu as well as to speed up the ongoing execution of works being undertaken in various parts of the city, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Advocate Purnima Sharma (Deputy Mayor) today chaired a meeting of Engineering Division –I of the Corporation.
The meeting was also attended by Councillors Sharda Kumari, Ritu Choudhary, Anita Sharma, Sandhya Gupta, Shama Akhter, Anil Masoom, Dr Akshay Kumar, Gopal Gupta and Jagdish Kumar. Besides this, Ajeet Sigh Chopra Joint Commissioner (Works) and R K Mahajan (Executive Engineer), Assistant Executive Engineers and Junior Engineers of Engineering Division-I were also present.
Councillors put forth issues of public importance and delaying of development works which are already allotted to the contractors due to unknown reasons in their wards. A detailed progress of all the ongoing development works in various wards of the city falling in Division-I were reviewed by the Mayor and strict instructions were issued to the Engineers present in the meeting to speed up the execution of all the works which are purposed to be taken up in the next financial year under Capex Budget strictly in consultation with the Councillors of the respective wards and take immediate measures in framing estimates and floating of tenders accordingly for their onward action on priority basis within the stipulated timeframe.
Deputy Mayor also issued clear instructions to the concerned Engineering wing to keep strict vigil by physically visiting the ongoing construction sites and make it sure that the material used is of best and durable quality.
