JAMMU, June 7: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta, along with Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa today highlighted major achievements and development activities of the Municipal body undertaken from the last more than two and half years after the election of the Corporation.
Addressing a press conference, here today, the Mayor said that major achievement is installation of more than 80,000 LED street lights as well as high mast lights in all the wards of the city and the process for installation of more LED lights in the leftover areas is under way.
He informed that record revenue in almost all the sections has been collected in the last three years which has increased in comparison with the previous years while more than 3000 building permissions (2830 residential, 250 commercial) through online system have been granted in the last two and half years.
“Construction of major nallahas in the Jammu City under “Amrut Scheme” worth Rs 200 crore is under completion. Moreover, black topping worth Rs 100 crore of the various roads of the city has also been undertaken by the concerned department from the last two years. Major plantation drives in the last two years have been conducted in various parts of Jammu City for creating eco friendly atmosphere. In order to provide best possible sanitation facility to the citizens of Jammu and to make the city garbage free, door to door collection of garbage has been started successfully in every ward of the city. In order to streamline the functioning of JMC and to provide facilities to the general public 14 numbers of Municipal services have been started through online system,” said the Mayor, adding that the work on prestigious project of Solid Waste Management is under process.
“The prestigious project of construction of multi storey car parking at Municipal land at Panjtirithi is under progress as well as modern Gowshala at PanjGrai near Nagrota over 100 kanals of land is also being undertaken and the chain fencing alongwith other allied works has been completed,” he added.
Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, Narinder Singh, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee and Kuldeep Singh, Chairman Social Justice Committee, accompanied the Mayor during the press conference.
