JAMMU, Apr 16: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Rajinder Sharma inaugurated an eye checkup camp at Sharp Sight Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The Camp was organized by FICCI FLO J&K and Ladakh in collaboration with Sharp Sight Hospital. Varuna Anand, chairperson of FICCI FLO Jammu chapter along with Mona Saraf (secretary), Ruchika Gupta (senior vice-chairperson), Sona Mehta (treasurer), Pooja Gandotra (joint treasurer), Chandni Kapoor (joint secretary) and Madhurima Mahajan (member) were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that it is very good initiative taken by the FICCI FLO for the under privileged and people belonging to rural areas who mostly lose their eyesight due to lack of awareness. He hoped that that the FICCI FLO will keep doing this type of yeoman services in future too.
During the Camp, eye sight of more than 150 people, particularly drawn from rural areas like Nagbani, Gajansoo and Marh was examined through digital technique by a team of ophthalmologists comprising Dr Rimpika Mahajan (Vitero Retina Surgeon) and Dr Nitee Gupta (Cataract and Glucoma Specialist).
Both the doctors made the visiting patients aware about symptoms and causes of different eye diseases as well as their timely treatment. They were also educated about the precautions to be taken to keep the eyesight healthy.
Varuna Anand, while speaking on the occasion threw light on the importance of eye care. She said in this digital era, it becomes more necessary to care for our eyes and that is why this camp has been organized.
Gourav Kumar Singh (Centre Manager, Sharp Sight Hospital) said that people belonging to rural areas need to aware about the causes and symptoms of various eye diseases as early treatment can help in save eyesight. He apprised the visiting guests about the advanced machinery available in the Hospital for treating different types of eye diseases.
