Mayor kick starts construction work of lanes, drains

JAMMU, Feb 26: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta today conducted an extensive tour of Ward No.33 in the areas of Rajpura Mangotrian, Shiv Nagar etc along with Surinder Choudhary Councilor of Ward No. 29 and kick started the construction work of lanes & drains near Indira Sagar Public High School, Rajpura Mangortian.
The drains were in dilapidated condition since long and the residents especially school going children & old persons were facing lot of problems while passing through these busy lanes. The construction of these development works will be completed at the estimated cost of Rs 5.50 lakh only by JMC within the stipulated time period with quality material & upto the satisfaction of residents of this locality as stated by Mayor.
Ravi Kumar, Krishan Lal Verma, Karan Sharma, Bal Krishan, Vikas Bali and other prominent citizens of Ward No.33 along with staff of Engineering Wing and other sections of JMC accompanied the Mayor. Gupta appealed the general public to come forward and cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in various development works undertaken by the department within the Jammu city, avoid using single used plastics, polythenes in their routine work, don’t throw debris, garbage filth etc in the public drains and lanes and nallahs, adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet garbage at their own level, don’t spit, urinate & defecate in open, cover their open plots with proper boundary walls so that Jammu can be made neat, clean, green & beautiful city under Swacch Bharat Mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
