JAMMU, Mar 14: Continuing the drive to provide better development and basic facilities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted an extensive tour in the different localities of Old City of Ward No.10 along with Anil Kumar Masoom, Councilor of the Ward and started the development work and laying of tiles in the various lanes near JDA market Super Bazaar Jammu at the estimated cost of Rs 2.77 lacs. This was the long pending demand of the shopkeepers of that market. Daleep Raina, Junior Engineer & other field staff of JMC along with prominent members of Bazaar Association i.e. Sanjeev Sawhney, Ajay Gupta, Raju Gupta and others were accompanied the Mayor during the tour.
Mayor directed the concerned JE and contractor to complete the work with quality material & within stipulated time period. He also asked the Councilor of Ward No 10 to identify the other development works of lanes and drains in the remaining markets of the Ward so that Jammu Municipal Corporation can provide better facilities especially to the business community and also urged them to make their business establishments and markets smart and well looking under Smart City so that more and more customers may come in their markets for shopping as due to shifting of train direct to Katra, the business of the shopkeepers especially of Jammu city has already suffered a lot.
He also said that other remaining issues of the shopkeepers near JDA Market Super Bazaar will be sorted out after discussion with JDA Department on priority basis and asked them to co-operate with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in various development activities, plant more and more saplings in and around their locality, do not throw garbage filth etc in the public lanes and drains, adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet waste in order to make Jammu city neat, clean and green under Swach Bharat Mission.
