JAMMU, Mar 10: Continuing the drive to provide better development and basic amenities to the residents of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted an extensive tour of Ward 33 & 30. He started the renovation as well as construction work of nallah from Shamshan Ghat (Shanti Ghat) near Women Polytechnic College Shiv Nagar upto A.G Office as the walls as well as bed of the nallah was damaged at various spots due to which dirty water often enters into the houses of low lying areas of Shakti Nagar and causing havoc during rainy season.
This was the long pending demand of the inhabitants residing in the Shakti Nagar area and nallah will be constructed by the UEED at the estimated cost of Rs 1.65 lacs . Surinder Choudhary councilor of Ward No.29, Munish Khajuria, Keshav Chopra, Mandal president and large number residents of Ward No: 33 and Executive Engineer of UEED Ashwani Seth, concerned Junior Engineer, contractor were also present during the tour.
Mayor directed the engineers of UEED to complete the work within the stipulated time period and with quality material well before coming rainy season so that residents of Shakti Nagar, Gurah Bakshi Nagar may not suffer any more due to this problem.
Later, Mayor also toured in the areas of Patel Nagar, Talab Tillo and its adjoining localities of Wards No 30 along with Sonika Sharma and Surinder Chowdhary councilors of Ward No 30 & 29 and started the much awaited connection of pipes of water of kitchens and bathrooms of individual households with sewerage network at Patel Nagar, Talab Tillo. An amount of Rs. 25 Lakh has been realized by Jammu Municipal Corporation for this much needed project at Phase first as this is the plain area and dirty water remain stagnant and causes lot of problems for the residents of Talab Tillo area. This water often reverse back and enters into the premises of residences of the locality and gives foul smell in the whole locality.
Mayor informed the gatherings that the connection work of sewerage with kitchens and bathrooms of households in the remaining areas of Ward No 30, 31 & 14 will also be taken up on priority basis and in phased manner so that residents of these wards who are facing inconvenience since long may get relief as soon as possible. He further said that the Government is working hard on various projects towards taking Jammu a Smart City.
