JAMMU, Mar 16: Contin-uing his drive to provide better development and basic facilities to the residents of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted an extensive tour of various localities of Ward No 33 and reviewed the ongoing construction work of nallah at Rajpura Mangotria.
The Mayor also kick started the laying of slab work on the Nallah in Gali No: 10 and 11 in the Mohalla in presence of Ashok Yogi and other prominent residents of the locality along with concerned contractor who accompanied the Mayor during the tour. This slab work will be completed at the estimated cost of Rs. 2.95 lakh by the UEED, he added.
Gupta said it was the long pending demand of the residents as this was the narrow lane and people especially school going children and old people have to face lot of hardships while crossing the damaged spots near the Nallah.
Later, Mayor also paid visit of various sectors of Ward No: 69 & 70 of Jammu Municipal Corporation along with Gurmeet Kour Randhawa, Narinder Singh concerned councillors of the wards, Ashwani Seth Executive Engineer & Junior Engineer of PHE concerned contractor & prominent citizens of Sainik Colony.
The residents were facing lot of problems due to PHE pipes coming in the way while constructing of deep drains by the UEED in the locality. Mayor directed the Junior Engineer of PHE to immediately lift these pipes which are creating obstruction in this vital development work of deep drains, so that residents may get relief from this major problem.
He also reviewed the blacktopping work of roads & interior lanes being done on the demands of inhabitants of Sainik Colony by PWD and asked the concerned to complete the work with quality material and within the stipulated time period upto satisfaction of residents and concerned councillors. He also requested the general public to come forward and co-operate with Jammu Municipal Corporation in various development activities being started by the department in all the wards of Jammu city. He appealed them do not throw debris, garbage, silt etc in the Nallahs, lanes and drains besides properly segregate dry and wet garbage at their own level. He also asked them to plant more and more saplings to make the environment eco friendly in order to make Jammu city neat, clean and green.
