JAMMU, Dec 26: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta toured areas of Kalka Colony, Gorkha Nagar and other adjoining colonies in Ward numbers 47 and 48.
Vinay Gupta, BJP District President; Lucky Puri, Gandhi Nagar Mandal President; Sharda Kumari, Sham Lal Bason—both JMC Councilors; Karuna Chhetri, President Gorkha Samaj; Sanjeev Gupta, AEE UEED; Surinder Sharma, JE UEED and other officers and officials of JMC also accompanied the Mayor.
Mayor inspected the construction work of Nallah in the area being executed by UEED at an estimated cost of Rs. 7 crore and also directed the engineering wing of UEED to execute the construction upto the tail end.
He assured the locals that all their leftover development works will be taken on priority as most of the people in those Wards belong to below poverty line.
In Gorkha Nagar Colony the locals raised the issue of laying of scraps of old vehicles and other waste materials by scrap-dealers on road, poor sanitation, street light problem, lifting of garbage etc on daily basis from their colony.
The Mayor directed field staff of JMC to redress the grievances of the locality at an earliest and deploy men & machinery in the Gorkha Nagar area on routine basis. He directed the shopkeepers to remove the scraps from roadside within 15 days period.
