JAMMU, Oct 15: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta along with Rani Devi, Councillor Ward-34 today started work of laying slab over the nallah flowing through upper Vikas Nagar at Doordarshan lane here.
Dinesh Gupta, Councilor Ward-18, M.R Dogra, Pyra Lal Angral, prominent locals of the area and Tej Krishan Pandita, Junior Engineer (Civil), work supervisor of the Ward and the concerned contractor were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that slab at the nallah was a long pending demand of people of the area as they were facing hardship due to the open nallah.
He further said that an amount of Rs 25 lakh has been sanctioned for the work which includes repair of the nallah from all sides and laying of slab of about 70 meter span.
The locals also putforth demands like renovation and construction of left over drains and lanes in the area, lifting of stray animals on routine basis, installation of more LED street lights in remaining lanes etc.
The Mayor assured that all the genuine issues will be sorted out in phased manner and appeal to the general public not to throw garbage, waste material etc in lanes, drains and nallahs, remove the encroachments over the nallahs, plant more trees on the both sides of nallahas and near their surroundings where sufficient space is available in order to make Jammu neat, clean and green city.
Later on the mayor in the presence of Rajni Sethi, Spokeperson BJP, Kunti Jasrotia, Incharge Ayushman Bharat BJP and Parveen Arora, Co-Incharge also inaugurated registration camp for Golden Cards under the Pradhan mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PMABY) at Shiv Temple near Baby Caterers, Bakshi Nagar Jammu.
During the camp, a large number of families from Bakshi Nagar and its adjoining localities got themselves registered under PMABY.
The Mayor said that Ayushman Scheme initiated by the Prime Minister will prove to be a game changer for India’s health system.
