JAMMU, May 25: JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta today along with Councillor Amit Gupta conducted an extensive tour in Warehouse as well as Nehru market and started various development works to provide better facilities, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that the Warehouse market is one of the oldest market of J&K and people from all the districts of J&K visits in this market on daily basis for purchasing all types of essential items but the market lack certain basic amenities in terms of renovation of nallah/ deep drains and blacktopping on all the link roads of the markets.
He further said that keeping in view the strong protests and to redress the long pending grievances of the shopkeepers of the Warehouse, he himself along with local Councillor and other officials including Manzoor Ahmed Chief Engineer PWD, Senior Officers and Engineers of JDA, Executive Engineer along with supervisory staff of UEED visited the site, met with Deepak Gupta president of the local Association and kick started construction/ renovation of deep drains/ nallah, here.
Besides this, existing Safaikaramcharies along with sufficient numbers of vehicles were deployed for removing old mulba, garbage etc from the various corners of the market.
The work of blacktopping on the main road as well as interior lanes were immediately started today while Chief Engineer PWD and officers of JDA were also directed to execute other development works while Xen UEED was instructed to execute the construction/renovation of nallah/ deep drains on urgent basis in consultation with local Councillor as well as representatives of Warehouse Association.
He also assured that every possible step be taken in making the Warehouse market really a smart, neat and clean market. President of the Warehouse market extended gratitude to the Mayor as well as Councillor for considering their much needed and genuine demands and also assured that they will provide full cooperation to JMC and other allied departments in the ongoing development activities.
