‘Jammu city to get total face lift’

JAMMU, Oct 31: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta said that Jammu city under the new Smart City Project will get a complete face lift and many development projects sanctioned already will be taken up in hand soon.
Addressing a public function jointly organised by Durga Nag Trust (DNT), Anuradhapuram Welfare Committee, Sector One and Sector Two at Durga Nag Community Hall near, here, the Mayor assured the people that the construction of all roads, lanes, by-lanes and drains will be taken up in hand soon.
The Ward 65 Corporator, Anita Sharma assured him that all the works have been included in the plan and construction work will be taken up in hand soon. The Mayor also gave instructions about the covering of drainage nullah flowing from Bantalab via the community hall, Sharda Colony and Sarswati Viihar be taken up priority basis and the work near the community hall be taken up in hand in first instance.
Chander Mohan Gupta also assured the people that black topping of all roads in the area, lanes and by lanes, besides construction of road from Durga Nag Community Hall to Bantalab will also be started soon. The Mayor also assured the residents that the JMC will take action against the people who have grabbed the drainage nullah flowing from Barnai Talab via Anuradhapuram as many residential houses are facing threat of floods. He said foot path to community bath rooms and transformer will also be constructed in the area and another nullah flowing via newly constructed colony adjacent to Sharda Colony will also be constructed so that the people don’t face flood threat.
The Mayor highlighted the various development projects taken up in hand in Jammu by the Government under Narendra Modi led Government and said with annulling of Article 370 the era of discrimination to which Jammu region was subjected has ended once for all.
Earlier Kuldeep Raian, Trustee of Durga Nag Trust read the welcome address while the function was presided over by Dr R L Dhar general secretary of the Trust. He said that complete face lift has been given to Durga Nag shrine at Srinagar under the leadership of its president Vijay Bakaya under small city Project.
Jagbir Singh, representative of Anuradha Puram Sector one and Capt (retd) Raina president Sector Two highlighted the demands of their respective colonies. The vote of thanks was proposed by I K Raina while Makhan Lal Bhat Manaager DNT compared the programme.
