Mayor tours Bahu Fort, inspects beautification works

JAMMU, Aug 24: Mayor, JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta and Dy. Mayor, Purnima Sharma accompanied by Babila Rakwal, vice chairperson, JDA today took extensive tour of Bahu Fort beautification works. After paying obeisance to Mata Bawe Wali, the works executed by JDA viz Central Fountain fitted with aesthetic Fountain nozzles in pink sand stone over fitted with coloured LED lights, railing in sand stone, Jafri Jali in pink sand stone, Gazebos and sitting benches in pink sand stone, Central Table set with small benches in Jaisalmeri yellow stone etc were inspected.
Platforms around old trees, small fountain in Jaisalmeri stone, Rehri zone shed, wall murals inside and outside complex, landscaping of the area. Mayor also kick started plantation drive in the Bahu Fort complex by planting “Aarika Palm plant amidst airing the slogan “Green Jammu, Clean Jammu”.
The work done by JDA was appreciated by them and he also interacted with locals who also appreciated the works being done by Government. While briefing the media, Mayor disclosed that during the coming months, Jammuties will witness many more works as the Housing and Urban Development Department is committed to make Jammu, a Smart City under the Administrative Secretary, Dheeraj Gupta,. Mayor also enlisted some minor works within and outside the compound of Bahu Fort and also issued express instructions to Municipal staff to clean the deep covered drains and open drains in the area. Prominent among others who accompanied Mayor were Sushil Kumar, Executive Engineer, JDA, Gopal Sharma, AEE, JDA, Adv. Chander Mohan Sharma, convenor, Tawi Bachao Aandolan, Rajinder Kumar i/c Sanitation Officer and other field staff of JMC, Bahu fort traders association.
Mayor appealed to the general public to come forward and cooperate with JMC and other allied departments in various development activities being taken by them to make the Jammu city, neat, clean and green.
