JAMMU, May 10: Continuing his drive to provide best basic facilities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today visited the areas of Mahamaya temple, Sidhra bye pass, Bahu, Narwal etc and took stock of the various demands of the inhabitants of these areas.
Shama Ahktar, Councilor of ward number 71 along with Executive Engineer, ERA, officers from Forest Department, officers of various wings of Jammu Municipal Corporation and number of residents of Mahamaya & Bahu area were also present during the tour.
The mayor directed the officers to properly develop the environmental & herbal park with modern facilities and construct a new Model park on the bank of river Tawi near Mahamaya area by removing all illegal encroachments, install more lights on the road leading to Mahamaya temple, make entry gate of Mahamaya Mandir on main road properly visible for the pilgrims and beautification of stairs of Mahamaya temple.
The Mayor also directed the Engineering wing to construct a community shed in the complex of Mahamaya Mandir so that pilgrims can utilize it for their holy purpose. Moreover entrance area of cable car project near Mahamaya & Bahu may be properly developed by planting more & more plants and installing colorful and beautiful fountains so that tourists as well as general public may visit in large numbers, he added.
During the tour, Mayor noticed that fencing in the road leading to Mahamaya temple has been partially broken at some places and asked the concerned to rectify /construct it at an earliest to avoid any untoward incidents. Residents also demanded that additional SKCs may be provided in their newly included ward.
The Mayor appealed people to plant more and more trees, avoid using of polythene bags and cooperate with JMC to make Jammu neat, clean and green.
