KATRA, Nov 30: Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra, organized a one- day conference of tourism related organizations of Jammu region for threadbare discussion on the measures to increase tourist inflow.
President of the Association, Rakesh Wazir, chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, former president Shiv Kumar Sharma, Anchal Singh Manhas (president Taxi Operator Union Railway Station Jammu), Gurdeep Singh (president Airport Taxi Drivers Association Jammu), Sukhdev Singh and Parkash Raj (president and general secretary, respectively of Taxi Drivers Association Katra) were among main participants of conference.
The speakers were of considered opinion that good hospitality and better facilities is the only way by which we can increase the inflow of tourists. Different associations, present in the meeting, constituted the co-ordination committee for day to day quick decisions, co-ordination and better facilities to the tourists/pilgrims.
Mr Wazir and Mr Kesar, while speaking on the occasion, said that better co-ordination between the hoteliers and Taxies is very important because tourists right from arrival in the State to departure spend maximum time with them. Besides good hospitality, hoteliers as well as Taxies should provide all information of places of Tourist interests to the guests so that tourists may spend maximum time over here and more than one crore pilgrims, who visit Mata Vaishno Devi ji, be channelized to other tourist places of the State, they added.
Anchal Singh said that better co-ordination between all the associations is very important to deal with Government, SMVD Shrine Board, Tourism Department etc so that the Government instead of making policies on their own, be convinced with ground realities while taking decisions.
The meeting was also attended by Virender Kesar, Ajay Kotwal, Amit Sharma, Karan Wazir, Madan Aggarwal, Vivek Sharma, Amit Rahi, Abdul Rashid, Rajvinder Singh and others.
